Laser Hair Removal in Laoag: Sessions, Cost and Downtime

How many sessions laser hair removal really needs by area, what it costs in Laoag City, what the treatment feels like and who should not book it.

La Peau Parfaite Medical Clinic Published 4 min read Patient information, not medical advice

The short version

  • Hair grows in cycles, so a series spaced four to eight weeks works and a single session does not.
  • At La Peau Parfaite the starting price is ₱1,500 per session, and the area treated moves that number.
  • Shave before a session. Do not wax, pluck or thread for about four weeks beforehand.
  • Grey, white and very fine blonde hair responds poorly. Dark hair on light skin responds best.
  • Sun exposure in Ilocos is the main reason a good result fades, so sunscreen is part of the treatment.

Laser hair removal is the treatment people most often book with the wrong expectation. They expect one session and permanent smoothness. What the technology actually does is reduce hair over a series of sessions, and the number depends on the area, the hair, the hormones and the device.

This page explains what to expect at La Peau Parfaite in Laoag City, what it costs, and how to plan the year rather than the appointment.

Why one session is not enough

Hair grows in cycles, and the laser only works on follicles that are in the active growth phase at the moment of the pass. On any given day, a minority of the hair in an area is in that phase. The rest is resting, shedding or about to start.

That is why a series spaced four to eight weeks apart is the normal plan: each session catches a different slice of the follicles. It is also why a clinic that promises permanent removal in one session is either using a different definition of permanent or a different definition of honest.

After the series, most people need a maintenance session once or twice a year, especially on hormonal areas.

How many sessions by area

These are the ranges the clinic plans for, not a guarantee. Your plan is set after an assessment, and it changes with hair density and colour.

AreaTypical sessionsSpacing
Upper lip6 to 84 to 6 weeks
Underarm6 to 84 to 6 weeks
Brazilian8 to 105 to 8 weeks
Lower legs8 to 106 to 8 weeks
Back or chest8 to 126 to 8 weeks
Face (full)8 to 124 to 6 weeks

Hormonal areas (face, chin, neck) often need more sessions and respond less predictably, particularly with polycystic ovary syndrome or other hormonal conditions. That is a medical question, not a sales one.

What it costs

At La Peau Parfaite, laser hair removal starts at ₱1,500 for a first session. The final price depends on the area, how large it is, and the device settings needed.

The useful number is the course, not the session:

  1. Ask how many sessions your area needs.
  2. Multiply by the per-session price.
  3. Add the consultation.
  4. Compare with what waxing or shaving costs you over the same period.

For underarms at eight sessions, that is ₱12,000 across roughly a year, before any maintenance. Waxing eight times costs less per year and never stops. The two are different products, and the comparison is only fair over several years.

What a session feels like

Most people describe it as a rubber band snapping against the skin, faster on larger areas. The device usually has cooling, and the discomfort lasts while the pass is happening.

No numbing cream is needed for most areas. Sensitive areas can be done with a lower setting and more sessions instead. If a clinic offers you a strong anaesthetic cream for a routine session, ask who is applying it and why.

Downtime is usually none. Redness and small bumps around the follicles for a few hours are normal. Blistering, crusting and darkening are not normal and should be reported.

Before a session

  • Shave the area 12 to 24 hours before. Do not wax, pluck, thread or epilate for about four weeks: the laser needs the follicle, not just the hair.
  • No sun exposure or tanning beds for two weeks. Tanned skin changes the settings and the risk.
  • Stop anything that increases photosensitivity if the doctor asks you to, including some antibiotics and retinoids.
  • Come with clean skin: no lotion, deodorant or powder on the area.
  • Tell the clinic about pregnancy, breastfeeding, hormonal treatment and any history of keloids or cold sores.

After a session

  • Expect redness and a bumpy follicle pattern for a few hours.
  • No hot showers, sauna, swimming or heavy exercise for 48 hours.
  • Sunscreen on exposed areas, every day. This is not a formality in Ilocos.
  • Do not scrub or exfoliate the area for a week.
  • Hair in the treated area may seem to grow for one to two weeks and then shed. That is the follicle emptying, not failure.

Who should not book it

  • Grey, white and very fine blonde hair: the laser targets pigment, and there is little to target.
  • Pregnancy: not because of a known harm, but because most clinics will not treat without evidence, and the hormonal changes make results unpredictable.
  • Active skin infection, open lesions or a recent sunburn on the area.
  • A history of keloids on the area being treated.
  • Recent isotretinoin use, within the washout period the doctor sets.
  • Anyone who cannot commit to sun protection.

Laser, IPL and waxing

ApproachWhat it doesWhat it costs over a year

IPLWeaker energy, more sessions, more variableCheaper per session, more of them

The question worth asking is not "which is cheapest" but "which one gets me where I want to be in two years".
